Ich liebe diese Buch!Es ist die Geschichte von Ari und Dante, übers Freunde werden und erwachsen werden, einander aus den Augen verlieren und wieder finden, sich selbst wieder finden.Ich glaube nicht, dass jeder mit dem Schreibstil des Authors zurecht kommt; er erzählt die Geschichte sehr ruhig hnd fast schon etwas distanziert, da Ari gerade in einer Zeit ist, wo er sich selbst und die Welt um sich herum nicht immer versteht. Als ich das Buch zum ersten Mal gelesen haben, hatte ich das Gefühl, unter Wasser zu sein, Geräusch, Gefühle und Empfindungen schienen betäubt oder weit weg, bis ich das Ende des Buches erreichte und es war, wie plötzlich aufzutauchen, die Wasseroberfläche zu durchbrechen und alle Sinneseindrücke strömen plötzlich wieder auf einen ein, und es stellte sich heraus, dass das ganze Wasser daher kam, dass mich das Ende der Geschichte so sehr zum Weinen gebracht hat, dass ich sie kaum zu Ende lesen konnte - aber es waren Freudentränen!Ich hab das Buch seither bestimmt fünf Mal gelesen und kann das nächste Mal kaum erwarten.
Ich habe es innerhalb eines Tages verschlungen. Unglauliche viele Emotionen erlebt und gehofft, dass das Buch nie aufhört.Tolle realistische Figuren, interessante und clevere Dialoge und alles spannend und genial geschrieben. Mein neues Lieblingsbuch. Ich liebe es!!!! Die Tage lese ich es grad nochmal. Ergreifend und etwas was man NIE vergessen wird. Danke an den Autor für dieses Meisterwerk.
I just finished this book and I haven't read a story this beautiful and so well written in quite some time!The characters are so beautiful, honest and sincere. Saenz managed to create a wonderful coming out of age story with such simple but perfectly choosen words - it's breathtakingly beautiful. I enjoyed every second I spend reading and "living" this story.I don't really want to say to much about the content, I just advice you to pick up this book and dive into this beautiful and pure story.
I really enjoyed this book! The writing style remineded me a bit of Perks of being a Wallflower so if you enjoyed that I guarantee you that you'll also like this one.The characters are so well devloped you just have to love them and the family dynamics are great.I can only recommend this book! It's not that long but it still leaves a big impression on you after reading it.

Ari und Dante ist wirklich ein besonderes Buch: der Autor beschreibt die Welt der zwei Jugendlichen auf eine Weise, die unglaublich poetisch ist. Man wird in eine andere Zeit und Kultur transportiert und auf eine Achterbahn der Gefühle mitgenommen, die den Leser berührt.
Klare, authentische und "schöne" Figuren in einer wunderbaren und anrührenden Geschichte, ohne dabei jemals kitschig zu werden, geschrieben in einer unglaublich poetischen Sprache. Eine absolute Topempfehlung!
A perfect story about two Mexican-American boys between 15 and 17, about friendship, love, growing up and coming to terms with oneself and one's family. Read it in more or less one go and was absolutely enchanted.
